Theresa “Darklady” Reed is a long-time, regular contributing writer for AVN, a blogger for HuffingtonPost.com and Alternet.org, and president of Darklady Productions, Inc., based in Portland, Oregon. She is serving her second term as a Free Speech Coalition board member, and is FSC liaison to a newly formed consumer-focused non-profit.
As an FSC board member, Reed was instrumental in the creation of the organization’s Code of Ethics, drawing upon her experience with all areas of the adult entertainment industry, including online, DVD, and in-person performance.
She and Colin Rowntree created DotXXXOpposition.com to protest ICM Registry’s (now-successful) bit to create the .XXX sTLD. Reed updates and maintains the site and penned the script for “.XXX — The Movie,” which is available for viewing.
Passionately devoted to the ideal of responsible self-government, Reed is a strong defender of the First Amendment who un-apologetically believes that explicit sexual expression is a valuable and valid form of artistic and educational communication whose creators deserve respect and fair treatment.
In addition to hosting wildly innovative, pansexual fundraising and erotically-themed events, Reed’s work appears in various erotica and sexuality anthologies, including Stanford Press’ “Prostitution and Pornography: Philosophical Debate about the Sex Industry.” She is also an accomplished screenwriter, public speaker, erotica author, and sex educator who has run for public office twice.
