Recognizing landmark contributions in advocating for and advancing our fundamental human right to sexual freedom.
This year, the 11th anniversary of our Sexual Freedom Summit, Woodhull will honor two extraordinary individuals for their life-long commitment to sexual freedom as a fundamental human right: Cyndee Clay and Joan Price.
The 2020 Honorees
Cyndee Clay has worked for over 30 years as an advocate for the human rights, safety and health of folks engaged in street economies, especially those working in the sex trade. She believes that decriminalization of sex work and full sex worker rights are critical to the end of sexual exploitation and exploitative sex trafficking. She has served as the Executive Director of HIPS (Honoring Individual Power and Strength) for the past 25 years – striving to center the voices of those most affected by criminalization and stigma. She is a graduate of the UCLA/Johnson & Johnson Health Care Executive Program at UCLA Anderson School of Management, and was a 2019 Advocate-in-Residence for Global Health Studies at Yale’s Jackson Institute for Global Affairs.
Joan Price calls herself an advocate for ageless sexuality. She is the author of four noteworthy books about sex and aging, including the award winning Naked at Our Age: Talking Out Loud about Senior Sex and her latest: Sex after Grief: Navigating Your Sexuality After Losing Your Beloved. Joan is known by American and global media as the voice of senior sex. Her award-winning blog has been offering senior sex news, views, and sex toy reviews since 2005. At age 76, Joan continues to talk out loud about senior sex—partnered or solo. She is the co-creator of “jessica drake’s Guide to Wicked Sex: Senior Sex.” Find Joan and her books and blog at https://joanprice.com.
