Andrew Triska is a psychotherapist in Queens, New York. His work has focused primarily on sexuality and gender identity in marginalized and stigmatized populations. His recent and forthcoming publications include”Sexuality and Intellectual Disabilities: A Guide for Professionals” (Routledge, 2018), “Trans Adolescence: A Guide for Mental Health Professionals” (Routledge, forthcoming 2020), and a chapter in “Sex, Sexuality, and Trans Identities: Clinical Guidance for Therapists and Counselors” (Jessica Kingsley Press, forthcoming 2019).

As professionals who work with trans/gender variant clients (or who want to work with such clients), we are generally familiar with the DSM-V diagnosis of gender dysphoria and the WPATH guidelines and the history of (and controversies surrounding) these guidelines.
