Woodhull Freedom Foundation’s Pride Month Virtual Edition of “Fact Checked by Woodhull”
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — June 18, 2026 — Washington, DC
Today, the Woodhull Freedom Foundation announced the next installment of its virtual series, “Fact Checked by Woodhull,” centered on its groundbreaking work debunking myths about sexual freedom. This month’s program will focus on common myths about the transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) community. The myths our writers and researchers debunked were developed in conjunction with experts and based on current policies targeting TGNC people represent just a fraction of the harmful lies TGNC people are subjected to when trying to work, advocate, and live.
Fact Checked by Woodhull investigates common myths and lies about pornography, age verification, sex work, free speech, transgender and gender-nonconformity, and sexual orientation by consulting peer-reviewed academic research. Fact Checked articles are short, accessible, and free to all! Fact Checked has been cited in testimony in several states, on social media, and in periodicals.
The next episode of this virtual series will air live online on Tuesday, June 30 at 3:30 pm ET. Registration is free, and ASL interpretation will be provided.

Ricci Levy, President & CEO of the Woodhull Freedom Foundation, states, “False narratives are being used to justify discrimination, restrict access to healthcare, limit participation in public life, and undermine fundamental human rights of trans and gender nonconforming people. We believe facts matter, especially when people’s dignity, freedom, and safety are at stake. Through Fact Checked by Woodhull, we’re confronting some of the most persistent and damaging myths about transgender and gender nonconforming people with facts, research, and lived experience. During Pride Month we must channel the activist roots of Pride to challenge disinformation, defend human rights, and ensure that everyone has the freedom to live authentically and safely.”
